This weekend Thoor Ballylee features live music poetry and dance event from 5pm Friday 20 September for Culture Night – and the culture continues all weekend, especially Sunday 22 September, when from 11am Yeats’s tower hosts live music, poetry, artist’s workshops, and more!
On Friday Yeats’s tower is open all day late with free late opening until dusk at 7pm, featuring from 5pm music, song, poetry and dance around the fire from excellent local musicians and performers.
On Saturday Thoor Ballylee remains open all day for our exhibitions, tea, and usual warm welcome.
On Sunday 22 September Ireland’s renowned ConTempo Quartet in collaboration with the young musicians of Coole Music perform a concert from 1pm – featuring local poet and member of Ploughed Field Collective Justin McDermott.
On the same day our artist in residence, Susan Mannion, between 11am and 4pm will give a demonstration of her work until 4pm in the Studio. It’s free and people can drop in during those hours to see a demonstration of wood engraving.
All this before next weekend the Yeats Gregory Gathering revisits the tower Sunday 29 September, and features talks and artistic events at Coole Park all that weekend. A culturally rich close to the 2024 season at Thoor Ballylee: come along and take part in the fun!
