A gala concert, with soprano Helen Hancock, pianist Ramin Haghjoo and guests, celebrating sixty years since the restoration of Thoor Ballylee – led by Mary Hanley – and its official opening by poet, Padraig Colum, on 20 June 1965

Helen’s English language programme includes settings of Yeats poetry by Ina Boyle, Rebecca Clarke and Thomas Dunhill. There will be Irish songs and Moore’s melodies, arias from Handel’s Semele and Lehar’s The Merry Widow and audience favourites include Gershwin’s ‘Summertime’, Balfe’s ‘I dreamt I dwelled in Marble Halls’ and a showstopping finale from Jonathan Dove’s opera The Enchanted Pig (featuring a Bridezilla gone bonkers!)
