This summer Thoor Ballylee hosts several exciting events celebrating WB Yeats’s birthday season. They feature events full of culture and nature, for all the family – most especially, a special musical evening celebrating the 60th anniversay of Thoor Ballylee’s first opening to visitors.
Our first ever Hedgehog talk with Elaine O’Riordan kicks off the season at 7pm Thursday 12 June – a fun-filled spiky furry event for everyone! Email aine@greenguide.ie to book your place.
Our favourite annual poets picnic returns on Friday 13 June between 1-3pm – celebrating all things by mouth – poems, snacks, lunches – anything to bring along, eat, or read out loud! No booking required for this free event – just show up with a mouth, a poem, or a snack or two!
Then on Friday 20 June at 8pm, our special gala evening concert featuring soprano Helen Hancock and accompanist Ramin Haghjoo – celebrating 60 years since Yeats’s tower at Thoor Ballylee first opened for public visitors under the guidance of the great Mary Hanley. As ever, even if you can’t make it – we can show support by donating to our volunteer organisation!
